Southern Trains to Halt at Tambaram Instead of Egmore Amid Infrastructure Works
Temporary Change due to Railway maintenance works - Details Inside
Chennai Desk

Several south-bound trains will temporarily halt at Tambaram or Chengalpet or Mambalam instead of Chennai Egmore due to infrastructure and maintenance work. This move is expected to impact long-distance travellers heading from southern Tamil Nadu.
The decision is part of efforts to ease congestion at Egmore and facilitate ongoing railway projects in the area. Currently, Fourth line works are set to take place from March 5th-9th. Shifting the halt to Tambaram will help manage train movement more efficiently during the construction phase.
Trains from Karaikudi, Mannargudi, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Mandapam will be Short-Terminated. Some Trains will be diverted via Arakkonam and Perambur. Chennai-Tirunelveli Vande Bharat will be delayed by 15 minutes on March 6th and 7th.
Passengers who usually board or alight at Chennai Egmore will need to plan their journeys accordingly. They can use local trains or alternative transport options to reach their final destinations within the city.
Nanganallur Connect will follow the project and share updates.
