   In a significant step towards reviving the reading habit among the community, especially among children, Minister TM Anbarasan laid stone for a library building on MGR Road in Nanganallur on Friday. The new library, which is expected to be ready by next year, has been planned under the Mudhalvar Padaippagam initiative. The Library is also set to have study centres even for upto IAS and IPS levels.

The land, where a water tank, which has outlived its purpose after domestic Metro water connections, was standing has been offered by the State Bank Colony Welfare Association for the proposed facility.

A host of local functionaries from the DMK including Zone 12 Chairman Mr. N Chandran, Ward 167 Councillor Mrs. Durga Devi Natarajan, Ward 167 Secretary Mr J Natarajan along with members of various residents’ welfare associations and general public participated in the stone laying ceremony.
