Residents Voice Civic Concerns at Alandur Grievance Redressal Meeting

Residents from Nanganallur and other parts of the Alandur constituency participated in a Public Grievance Redressal Meeting organised by the Greater Chennai Corporation at Mudhalvar Thirumana Maligai, New Street, Alandur, on Saturday.

The day-long programme, held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., was attended by Alandur MLA M. Harish, along with officials from various civic departments, who received petitions and grievances from residents and welfare associations.

Office bearers of the Federation of Nanganallur Welfare Associations (FNWA), including Mr. Rajagopal, Mr. P.V. Inbasekaran, Mr. V. Rama Rao and others, met the MLA and submitted a memorandum highlighting several civic issues affecting residents. The memorandum was based on the federation's previously prepared charter of demands, which had been presented during an earlier interaction with the MLA. According to FNWA representatives, the MLA assured them that the concerns would be forwarded to the respective departments for necessary action.

The federation also submitted separate representations regarding property tax and patta-related issues. Members interacted with officials from Metro Water to explain concerns over arrears reportedly demanded from 2018 despite residents having paid their dues up to date.

In addition to welfare associations, several residents attended the meeting to submit petitions on various local issues and seek timely solutions from the concerned departments.

The grievance redressal meeting served as a platform for residents, associations and government officials to engage directly on civic matters, with many participants expressing hope that the issues raised would be addressed at the earliest.
