Ram Nagar Association Marks Golden Jubilee with Grand Celebration

The Ram Nagar Association, one of the oldest and most active resident welfare associations in Nanganallur, is all set to celebrate its Golden Jubilee on Sunday, 7th September 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Kalyana Ganapathy Pravachana Mandapam, Ramnagar.

The event will be presided over by Hon. Minister T. M. Anbarasan, Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Industries, Tamil Nadu, who will also release the commemorative Golden Jubilee Souvenir. The first copy will be received by Hon. R. S. Bharathi, Former Chairman of Alandur Municipality and former Member of Parliament. Sri. N. Chandran, Chairman, Zone 12 of Greater Chennai Corporation, will be the Guest of Honour.

Honouring the Journey and Contributions

Though officially registered in 1973, the association traces its roots back to the early 1970s, when residents united to undertake several social and civic initiatives for the welfare of Ramnagar. Among the most remarkable contributions was from Sri. S. R. Ramadasar and Smt. Rukmani Ammal, who generously donated land for the Sri Kalyana Ganapathy Temple and Pravachana Mandapam. As per their wishes, the mandapam continues to be let out at nominal charges to local residents, with proceeds directed towards temple maintenance and community welfare activities.

Over the decades, many philanthropists including Sri. V. Nataraja Iyer, Sri. K. V. Subramaniam, Sri. K. S. Sooryanarayanan, Sri. S. V. Ramani, Mrs. Geetha, Sri. Venkatraman, and others extended significant support in funding the construction of the temple and mandapam, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered and honoured during the celebrations.

A Day of Recognition and Celebration

The Golden Jubilee programme will also pay heartfelt tributes to past members, former office bearers, and long-serving volunteers whose contributions have shaped the growth of the association and the temple. Special awards will be presented to active members who continue to support community initiatives.

In addition, prizes will be distributed to winners of Golden Jubilee events conducted for Ramnagar residents, adding to the festive spirit of the evening.

The celebration will see participation from officials of Greater Chennai Corporation, Electricity Board, Revenue Department, Metro Water, Police Department, as well as office bearers of the Federation of Nanganallur Welfare Associations and other resident welfare associations.

This Golden Jubilee marks not just 50 years of service but also the enduring spirit of community, unity, and progress in Ramnagar, Nanganallur.
