Pongal Celebrations Held with Cultural Grandeur at Chellammal Vidyalaya

Pongal celebrations were held with great enthusiasm on 13 January 2026 at Chellammal Vidyalaya Higher Secondary School, Hindu Colony, Nanganallur, bringing together students, teachers, and the school management in a colourful cultural celebration. The event was graced by Thiru T. R. Chandrasekaran, Secretary of the Chellammal School Group, who participated as the Chief Guest. The programme was presided over by Principal Mrs. V. Ushanandhini and Administrative Officer Mr. M. R. Narayanan, with Vice Principals and teachers coordinating and supervising the celebrations.

Students participated enthusiastically in a wide range of traditional cultural performances, including Villupattu, Pongal songs, Mayilattam, Oyilattam, Kummi, Kolattam, Karagattam, Puliyattam, Silambattam, and more. The performances reflected the richness of Tamil culture and the festive spirit of the harvest festival.

In addition to cultural events, sports competitions were conducted for students from Classes I to XII, with active participation across all age groups. Separate Kolam competitions were also organised for teachers and students, adding colour and creativity to the celebrations. The Pongal festival concluded on a joyful note, with the school campus filled with energy, tradition, and festive cheer, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
