Nadanga Nallur Returns: A Walk for Senior Citizen Wellness
Second edition of the community walk aims to encourage healthy, active lifestyles among senior citizens
As part of its Stay Healthy, Stay Happy initiative, Diha Clinic is organising Nadanga Nallur - a dedicated Senior Citizens’ Walk - in association with the Senior Citizen Forum of Nanganallur and with the support of the Federation of Nanganallur Welfare Associations (FNWA). This marks the second edition of the event, following a strong response last year that saw more than 300 senior citizens participate.

The walk is scheduled for Sunday, 22 February, beginning at 6.30 am from Diha Clinic. Participants will walk through select streets of Nanganallur before concluding at the skating rink on 100 Feet Road. The initiative is designed to highlight the importance of regular physical activity, particularly walking, in maintaining health, mobility, and overall well-being among senior citizens. Speaking with Nanganallur Connect about the initiative, Rajasekar KS, Director - Marketing, Diha Clinic, said,
“We are excited to be back with Nadanga Nallur, in partnership with the Senior Citizen Forum and the Federation of Nanganallur Welfare Associations. Through this initiative, we hope to further raise awareness among senior citizens about the importance of staying physically active to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.”
Welcoming the initiative, S. Chandrabose, President of FNWA, described Nadanga Nallur as a unique effort in the locality. He noted that the programme has successfully encouraged even hesitant senior citizens to take up walking as a habit, creating widespread awareness about health through a simple yet effective activity. He summed up the spirit of the walk with the words, “வாங்க நடப்போம் நட்புடன்” - Let’s walk together in friendship.
Echoing similar thoughts, V. Rama Rao, President of the Federation of Senior Citizens Associations of Tamil Nadu (FOSCATN), said,
“Step by step, initiatives like this help build a healthier and more connected community.”
Adding to this, G. Ravindran, Secretary of the Lakshmi Nagar Welfare Association, said the event goes beyond fitness and serves as a meaningful platform that brings together people from different walks of life. He welcomed Nadanga Nallur as a positive annual gathering that strengthens community bonding while promoting healthy habits.

The organisers have announced that the first 400 registered participants will receive a complimentary T-shirt on the day of the walk, and all participants will be awarded a certificate. Registrations are currently open for senior citizens interested in taking part. Details for registration are given in the photo provided above this paragragh
