Madhanandhapuram Marks Independence Day with Flag Hoisting, Sports and Tree Planting
Rajeshwari Residents Welfare Association hosts a day of patriotic and community-focused activities for residents and children.
The Rajeshwari Residents Welfare Association, No. 32, Ponni Street, EVP Rajeshwari Avenue, Madhanandhapuram, organised Independence Day celebrations at Ponni Park on August 15, bringing residents together for a morning of patriotic activities followed by sports and cultural events for children and residents. The celebrations began at 8 am with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag. Deputy Commissioner of Police Shri M. Radhakrishnan, who was the chief guest, donated the National Flag, while Association President Shri G. Karthikeyan contributed the flag post. Shri Saravanan and Shri Inigo supported the installation of the flag post by providing the required materials and labour.

The flag-hoisting area was decorated with thoranams and traditional rangoli kolams, with members and families of the association contributing to the arrangements. The association also extended an invitation to interested women residents to participate in decorating the venue.
The celebrations also included a tree-planting initiative involving the DCP, Councillor Shri Selvendiran, Pallavi Saravanan and local residents, adding an environmental focus to the Independence Day programme.
The association made arrangements for seating, refreshments, drinking water and audio facilities for the events. Prizes were distributed by DCP Shri M. Radhakrishnan and Councillor Shri Selvendiran. The programme was coordinated with the support of the association office-bearers, committee members and residents.

Sports and cultural events commenced at 3 pm, organised by the association’s Sports and Events Committee members Smt. Saranya, Smt. Ilakkiya, Smt. Nasiba and Smt. Gomathi. Medals and cups were presented to winners, while special gifts were distributed to participants. Unique gifts were also given to children taking part in extracurricular activities to encourage their participation.
