From Paint to Plant - Nanganallur Celebrates Environment Day

The World Environment Day celebrations held on June 6 at Lakshmi Nagar Playground, Nanganallur, brought together civic officials, students, and enthusiastic residents in a spirited gathering focused on sustainability and awareness.

The event saw the participation of Zone 12 Chairman Mr. N. Chandran, Ward 167 Councillor Mrs. S. Durga Devi Natarajan, and Ward Secretary Mr. J. Natarajan, along with several association heads and members of the public.

Speeches were delivered by various dignitaries, students and association members, highlighting the importance of environmental consciousness and community participation.

Mr. Nathan, Zone Manager of Urbaser Sumeet, remarked, “We urge residents to segregate their waste into dry and wet categories. It helps us do our job better. We are always ready to provide enhanced waste collection solutions for the community and if space is available, we can plant  many tree saplings with free of cost as a measure to improve the greenery of the locality and eventually protecting our nature.”

Several individuals - including students, teachers, and public officials - were honoured during the event by association members and fellow dignitaries, in recognition of their efforts and contributions to the community.
A pledge to protect environment was taken by all the people who participated in the event.
Residents thanked the Urbaser Sumeet Officials, students, Arts teacher for the event.

Students from AM Jain College and AJS Nidhi Higher Secondary School along with Arts teacher Mr. NavaneethaKrishnan contributed beautiful environment-themed wall paintings, bringing colour and powerful messages to the park. As a gesture of appreciation, these student artists were presented with gifts during the event.

Two saplings were also planted at the park to symbolize a greener future and mark the occasion.
