Free Orthopaedic Consultations Every Friday in Nanganallur

The Rotary Club of Nanganallur Elite has relaunched its meaningful initiative ‘Free Fridays’, offering free orthopaedic consultations every Friday for underprivileged patients in and around Nanganallur, aiming to improve community health and access to specialised medical care.

The inaugural event of this ongoing project was held yesterday, 18th July 2025, at Dr VEL’s Ortho Clinic near the Thillai Ganga Nagar Subway, Nanganallur – 600 061. The event was graced by Rtn Rameshkumar Kav, Assistant Governor – Region 1, as the Chief Guest. Photos are attached below this article.

Consultations are provided by Rtn Prof Dr K Vel Murugan MS Ortho, DNB Ortho, with around 20–25 patients benefitting on average every Friday. Over the course of a year, the service is estimated to create a social impact worth nearly ₹5,20,000, underscoring the club’s commitment to sustainable healthcare for the local community.

Speaking to Nanganallur Connect, Chairman – Club Public Image, Rtn S. Sivakumar of the Rotary Club of Nanganallur Elite shared:

“This will be very useful for all patients. No matter how many come — 10, 30, or even more — the doctor will consult everyone freely on Fridays.”

This thoughtful project not only addresses essential healthcare needs at no cost but also reinforces the Rotary Club’s dedication to community service and public welfare in Nanganallur.
