Free Eye Camp to Be Held in Nanganallur on February 7th
Inner Wheel Club of Nanganallur along with Chennai Pammal Sankara Eye Hospital brings accessible eye care to residents through a free screening and treatment initiative.
A free eye camp is set to be organised in Nanganallur on February 7, 2026 (Friday), aimed at providing accessible eye care to residents across age groups. The camp is being organised by the Inner Wheel Club of Nanganallur (District 323) along with Chennai Pammal Sankara Eye Hospital. The camp will be held at Nanganallur Magalir Mandram, located on 6th Main Road, Nanganallur, and will be conducted from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm. Residents will be offered free eye check-ups, with a special focus on identifying common vision-related issues that often go unnoticed. Official Poster attached below.

Speaking about the need for such an initiative, Mrs Bharathi, President of the Inner Wheel Club of Nanganallur, highlighted how changing lifestyles have impacted eye health.
“Today, many people-especially working professionals-spend long hours on mobile phones and computers. This constant screen exposure has led to a rise in eye-related issues. At the same time, procedures like cataract surgery can be financially difficult for many families. This camp is our way of ensuring that quality eye care reaches everyone, without cost becoming a barrier,” she said.
The camp will also facilitate completely free cataract surgeries for those diagnosed during the screening. Sharing details about this arrangement, S. Ethirajan, a long-time social service enthusiast and key supporter of the initiative, said the focus is on end-to-end care.
“This camp will be extremely helpful for residents. If cataract is detected, patients will be taken to a partner hospital, the surgery will be performed there, and they will be safely dropped back in Nanganallur. From screening to surgery and transport, everything will be provided free of cost,” he said.
Mr. Ethirajan, who has been actively involved in social service for several years, said his interest in community welfare was shaped early on by his family’s long-standing involvement in service activities.

The organisers have encouraged residents-especially those experiencing vision difficulties-to make use of this opportunity. Participation is open to all.
