Flyover, Underground EB Cable and a Link Road - Top Three Needs of Nanganallur
Federation of Nanganallur Welfare Associations submits 17-point charter ahead of Assembly elections

A flyover in place of the Thillai Ganga Nagar subway, ply electric cables under the ground avoiding the present system for safety and infra reasons and quick connect between Ram Nagar and upcoming MRTS station near Puzhuthivakkam – these are not likely proposals for Nanganallur in the interim budget of Tamil Nadu government, but are some of the top demands to parties ahead of the Assembly polls in April.

The first demand for a flyover is the result of several years of pain suffered during rainy days in the absence of a road link above the railway tracks. From Meenambakkam to St Thomas Mount, all structures connecting both sides of the tracks are subways at present, hence the pitch.
A copy of a the representation, which has 17 demands including the above three, was recently submitted to DMK zonal chairman N Chandran, by the Federation of Nanganallur Welfare Associations.
Detailing the other contents of the representation, federation president S Chandra Bose said the federation has sought the installation of a 110 KV substation at Nanganallur instead of the existing 33 KV facility to cater the ever increasing power demand in Nanganallur and nearby areas.
A common notable request for physical infra boost and to ensure smooth traffic flow from the associations was a dedicated parking lot for devotees visiting the Anjaneyar Temple. This will be of great relief to reduce load on II and III Main Road, Ram Nagar, and other surrounding roads, along with ensuring hassle-free movement of vehicles and pedestrians - visitors, locals and those pass through the temple and its vicinities.

To ensure clean environs, federation's general secretary V V Kumaravelu said members also requested the renovation of Adambakkam lake, though little away from Nanganallur, and the development of a park with a walking track along its bunds.
Federation members also wanted some quick action to curb dog and cattle menace to ensure safety of road users.
Removal of shops encroaching walkways on all main roads in Nanganallur. A request to open an auditorium in the land available near Panachiamman koil to cater to Nanganallur, Pazavanthangal and Adambakkam, are among the other demands.
Additionally, revising the EB rates and facilitating a monthly payment system, opening a new state-of-the-art library in Nanganallur, reducing the property tax for zone 12, traffic signals at certain places, bringing an act to form an Elders Commission, more bus connectivity, were among the 17 point charter that the FNWA submitted to Zonal Chairman Chandran.
