Southern Railway will implement a revised railway timetable from January 1, 2026, bringing wide-ranging changes aimed at improving speed, efficiency, and passenger convenience. The new timetable follows extensive track upgrades, infrastructure improvements, and dedicated maintenance works carried out across the zone.

• 8 new trains introduced across Southern Railway

• 4 existing trains extended to new destinations

• 65 Mail/Express/Superfast trains speeded up from January 1, 2026

• 14 Passenger trains to run faster with reduced travel time

• 102 Express trains to receive experimental stoppages at various stations

• Southern Railway has placed strong focus on reducing travel time:

• 22 trains were already speeded up during 2025

• Several long-distance routes will now save 5 to 85 minutes per journey

• Select services have been upgraded to Superfast Express status

• Capacity & Coach Upgrades

• 7 Vande Bharat Express trains permanently augmented with additional coaches

• 46 Express and 27 Passenger trains received permanent coach augmentation in 2025

• 25 pairs of Express trains converted to LHB coaches, improving safety and comfort
