Drainage Work Underway on 4th Main Road, Commuters Advised to Use Alternate Routes

The 4th Main Road, one of Nanganallur’s busiest stretches and home to the Nanganallur Market, is currently undergoing drainage pipeline installation. The work, which has been in progress for over a week, is part of infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing the area’s drainage system. There are numerous road works being carried out at Nanganallur and now this project joins the list.

The middle section of the road has been dug up for pipeline installation, with most of it already covered back. However, some sections are still under process, and the filled portions have minor uneven surfaces due to leftover debris. While the work is being carried out mostly at night to minimize traffic disruption, commuters may experience inconvenience like slight traffic congestion or dust allergy.

A worker at the site mentioned, "We are laying drainage pipes across the entire stretch, including some inter-junctions. The timeline depends on various factors, but we are working towards completing it as quickly as possible."

Since this road sees heavy traffic from MTC buses, office-goers, and local commuters, those traveling through the area are advised to be cautious and consider alternate routes if needed.
Commuters trying to reach MGR Road/ Pazhavanthangal Railway Station/ GST Road can use 5th main road and those who are trying to reach Vanuvampet/ Madipakkam/ Medavakkam main road can use 2nd main road and turn right at 1st main road.
