In view of the approaching North-East monsoon, officials from the Greater Chennai Corporation’s Zone 12 (Alandur) held a preparatory meeting with Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and other civic bodies on Friday afternoon.

The meeting, chaired by Zone 12 Chairman N. Chandran, saw the participation of senior officials from various departments including Metro Water, TNEB, NDRF, and the Corporation’s Engineering and Health wings. Representatives from several local RWAs and welfare federations also attended.

Officials also highlighted the importance of timely communication between the public and the Corporation, particularly for reporting waterlogging, fallen trees, and power failures. Chairman Chandran urged RWAs to work closely with zone-level teams to ensure a swift response during any eventualities. The meeting also emphasized special attention for senior citizens, pregnant women, and differently-abled individuals during emergencies.

Residents were encouraged to remain alert, follow updates through reliable channels, and take precautionary measures from October onwards.
