How It Works:

  • Simple Payment Options: Residents can obtain a cloth bag by inserting a ₹10 coin, a ₹10 note, or via UPI.

  • Now in Use: The machine is fully operational, allowing immediate access to eco-friendly bags.

Encouraging Sustainable Practices

The Meendum Manjapai initiative focuses on reviving the use of traditional yellow cloth bags (manjapai) to reduce plastic dependency. By installing vending machines, the government aims to make reusable bags easily accessible, encouraging sustainable habits among residents.

More Machines to Come?

Given the positive response, similar vending machines may be introduced in other locations. This move aligns with the government’s broader environmental goals to curb plastic waste.
