Chennai to Bangalore in just 30 minutes! India's First Hyperloop Dream Closer to Reality

A few months ago, a road trip from Chennai to Bangalore would take approximately 7 hours to cover the 350+ kilometres. Thanks to the new Expressway, the travel time is reduced to just 2-3 hours covering a distance of 250 kilometres. But what if you could travel faster than airplanes, which take about an hour. Sounds impossible right, well it is now very much possible with the brand new Hyperloop Technology.

What is Hyperloop?

A Hyperloop is a high-speed, pod-based transport inside low-pressure vacuum tubes. It can go upto a whopping speed of 1000km per hour. This speed is achieved because the pod eliminates friction and resistance, eventually providing travel speed even faster than flights.
This Hyperloop concept is said to have first introduced by Elon Musk in 2013.

IIT Madras and Avishkar Hyperloop

Avishkar Hyperloop, a student-led start-up from IIT Madras is working on the invention of Hyperloop in India.
The team has successfully built a 400m Hyperloop Test Track at IIT Madras Campus making it the longest Hyperloop Test Tube in Asia and could soon become World's longest.

Government's Involvement

Recently, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited and Inspected the Hyperloop facility built in IIT Madras. He praised the team's effort and assured that the Government is having a close watch on this project with just one call away from any sort of help required. He also announced that The Hyperloop, Collaborated with Indian Railways will be built in Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai.

Future of Transportation
