Australia achieved a historic Test series victory in Sri Lanka after a 14-year drought, dominating the second Test match. This victory, which coincided with Dimuth Karunaratne's 100th and final Test for Sri Lanka, was filled with memorable moments.

Sri Lanka, batting first, managed to score 257 runs, with Dinesh Chandimal and Kusal Mendis contributing significant contributions. Australia, led by a masterful performance from captain Steve Smith, responded with a strong 414 runs.

In the second innings, Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews and Kusal Mendis fought valiantly, but Australia's spinners, particularly Beau Webster, proved too strong. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 231, leaving Australia with a modest target of 75 runs.

In a touching gesture, Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya De Silva handed the ball to Karunaratne for the final over, allowing him a poignant farewell in his final Test match.

Australia comfortably achieved the target, securing the series victory and gaining valuable momentum ahead of the World Test Championship final.
