A Throwball Finale Like No Other — From Intense Rallies to Stunning Stage Performances, Nanganallur Celebrated in Style

Nanganallur, April 6, 2025:

The finals of the Women's Throwball Tournament concluded on a high note in Nanganallur, leaving the community buzzing with excitement and pride. The much-awaited final clash was held between the formidable Chennai Spinners and Seven Stars, with the Chennai Spinners clinching the title in straight sets under the best-of-three format.

More Than Just a Match

The day was packed with more than just sporting action — it was a full-fledged cultural celebration. Students from Hindu Colony Chellammal Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School delivered a series of performances that stole the hearts of everyone in the audience. A young, talented host (Kum. Niranjana Vignesh 6th Standard) – despite her age – stunned the crowd with her confidence on the mic and impressed everyone with her vocal skills. Following her anchoring, the audience witnessed a soulful Singing and Mridangam performance (Kum. Sharavanya, Kum. Vasumathi, Kum. Viveka, Mridangam: Master. Desikan), a graceful Violin and Mridangam performance (Violin: Kum. Harsitha, Mridangam: Master Desikan) and a stunning Bharatanatyam dance ( L Jayashree and L Divyashree) that brought out the richness of our tradition.

A Warm Welcome and Heartfelt Thanks

The Chief Guests, including several distinguished personalities like Ms. Shanti IPS (DIG Admin), Mr. N Chandran (Zone 12 - Alandur Chairman) graced the event and were honoured with shawls by the members of the organizing committee. Mr. Azhagesan opened the felicitation ceremony with a warm welcome speech, followed by speeches from other chief guests, setting the tone for a meaningful evening.

Rewarding the Champions

The prize distribution was a joyful sight. The winners, Chennai Spinners, received large pressure cookers, while the runners-up, Seven Stars, and other semifinalists — Vels Vidyashram School Team and Friends Forever — were awarded a mix of small pressure cookers and tawas, while the participants received umbrellas - gifts that were not only thoughtful but also practical during the summer season. The moment turned even more festive as the participants danced joyfully with their umbrellas, a token of appreciation that added to the celebratory mood.
