Nanganallur witnessed an exciting day of women’s cricket as the first-ever exclusive women’s cricket tournament concluded with Lady Legends emerging as champions. The event, held at Lakshmi Nagar Playground, was organized by Champion Atheletic and Fitness club along with Mr. N Chandran (Zone 12 Alandur - Chairman, Ms. Durga Devi Natarajan (Councillor - Ward 167) and Mr. Natarajan.
The tournament’s title sponsor was Balasubramaniam Metals, a well-known name in Nanganallur. The winners, Lady Legends, were awarded a cash prize of ₹6,000, while the runners-up, Modern Mahalakshmis, received ₹4,000.

The finals and semi-finals took place in the evening, where Modern Mahalakshmis put up a tough fight but had to settle for second place. The tournament saw six teams competing with passion and sportsmanship. A mother-daughter duo participating in one of the teams became a special highlight of the event along with a Teacher - Student duo (Dr.S.Kanakavalli and Student Saradha), showing the growing enthusiasm for women’s cricket in the locality.

Many players shared their excitement about getting back to the game after years. Speaking to Nanganallur Connect, one player shared, "I felt very nostalgic when I took the bat. It brought back memories of my childhood and school days."

Ms Jayashree's energetic commentary added excitement to the matches, while the scorer and two umpires played a crucial role in maintaining fairness. A team of volunteers worked tirelessly backstage, assisting in match coordination and player support. The audience, too, played a vital role, showing great enthusiasm and cheering for the players.

Champion Athletic and Fitness Club organized this event with a clear motto – to promote self-care and fitness among women. The tournament not only provided a platform for competition but also encouraged women to prioritize their well-being through sports.
