1.32 Lakh Voters Removed After SIR Exercise in Alandur Assembly Constituency

Totally, 1,32,059 voters (3,89,032 electorate as per 2021 poll rolls data in Alandur constituency) have been removed in the fresh electoral roll that was released on December 19 on Friday after the completion of the SIR exercise on December 14.

The total number of removals works out approximately to one-third or 33% of the voters list of Alandur in 2021 Elections. Like in other seats in Alandur too, a majority of the removals are likely to be voters who have shifted from their addresses in the previous rolls to new residences.

As far as the Kancheepuram district is concerned, overall 2.74 lakh voters have been removed in four Assembly constituencies. Going by the above count, the removals in Alandur Assembly Constituency alone is close to 50 per cent of the total deletions in Kancheepuram district.

Officials noted that Alandur’s proximity to Chennai and its urban nature, along with higher out-of-city and overseas migration, may have contributed to the larger number of voter removals.

In a new development, after cleansing of the rolls and re-organisaiton of booths, 35 new polling booths have been added in Alandur, as part of a district-wide booth restructuring. The draft electoral roll for 2026 was published on December 19, 2025. Voters can verify their names via the BLO, ECINET app, or official election websites.

Claims and corrections can be filed from December 19, 2025 to January 18, 2026 using Form 6 (new voter registration), Form 6A (overseas voters), Form 7 (deletion), and Form 8 (corrections). The final electoral roll will be published on February 17, 2026.
